Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 31, 2026

The short version: Your videos, health info, family contacts, and reports stay on your own phone. We do not sell your information, and we do not see your videos.

1. Information that stays on your phone

These are saved only on your device, inside Eyewit. We cannot see them:

If you delete Eyewit or clear your browser data, this information may be deleted too. Save important videos to your phone with the "Save to phone" button.

2. Your location

When you start an emergency, Eyewit asks your phone for your location. It is used to put a map link in the text to your family and to show the small map on screen. We do not store your location on our server.

To draw the small map, your phone downloads map pictures from CARTO and OpenStreetMap. Like any website, these services can see that a request came from your internet connection and which area of the map was asked for.

3. Visitor counts

Our server counts visits, app installs, and which emergency buttons are pressed, so we know if Eyewit is being used. We do not save names, phone numbers, locations, or IP addresses. To count each person once per day, we use a one-day code that cannot be turned back into your address, and we delete those codes the next day.

4. AI Witness (Pro)

If you use AI Witness, the question you type or speak is sent through our server to our AI provider, Anthropic, to get an answer. Please leave out private details like names, addresses, or account numbers. Voice questions are turned into text by your phone's browser, which may use its own speech service.

5. Texts and calls

When you tap Send text or Call 911, Eyewit opens your phone's own messages or phone app. Those messages and calls are handled by your phone and carrier, not by us.

6. Other services the page uses

The app loads its font from Google Fonts. Google can see that a request came from your internet connection.

7. What we never do

8. Children

Eyewit is meant for people 18 and older, or younger people with a parent's permission. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

9. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
